October 24, 2023 – Santa Clara, CA. Today at API World, 42Crunch, the API Security Platform vendor, announced that it now has 1 million developers leveraging its API security tools to secure their APIs. 42Crunch makes it easy for developers to use its OpenAPI security tools from directly inside their preferred Integrated Development Environments (IDE), such as Visual Studio, Intellij and Eclipse. This approach benefits enterprises by enabling their developers to code in security at the API design time, thus enabling API security from the get-go, rather than attempting to patch security fixes after the fact when APIs are live in production.
Ultimately, the 42Crunch API security platform provides comprehensive protection against a broad range of API-specific threats and enables applications security teams to collaborate closely with application developers to consistently enforce security throughout the whole lifecycle of an API.
According to a 2023 study by analyst firm Enterprise Management Associates, 32% of firms in North America admitted to only implementing API security controls in their production environment. Christopher M. Steffen, VP Research with EMA said, “ideally, preproduction is the best time to ensure that APIs conform to established standards and security controls. Prioritizing API security development and configuration proactively is not always a luxury that companies have the resources to enjoy” 1
Jacques Declas, CEO and Co-Founder of 42Crunch, said “Achieving this significant milestone of one million developers validates our vision of empowering API developers to contribute and improve security at every stage of the API software lifecycle. Implementing API security controls earlier in the design and development stages delivers cost savings to our enterprise customers by removing potential vulnerabilities in pre-production and accelerating the deployment of their API-based services.”
